A temporary address may be appropriate for a survey that permits it and only needs an email to deliver a confirmation. However, not every survey is intended to be anonymous or open to unrestricted participation.
Some research projects require follow-up interviews, participant verification, or delivery of an incentive. An expiring address could prevent the researcher from contacting you or issuing a reward.
Read the participant information before responding. If the study requires accurate contact details or continuing availability, use an address that meets those requirements.
Temporary email also does not remove identifying information from your answers. Your name, employer, location, or detailed personal experiences may still identify you.
For genuinely anonymous research, follow the researcher’s stated process rather than assuming that a disposable address creates anonymity. Use one response per person unless the survey instructions explicitly allow otherwise.
